An Interview With The Packaging Diva

JoannehinescroppedAt the 2008 National Soap Conference, I had an opportunity to meet so many great people. I sat on an expert panel with JoAnn Hines, the Packaging Diva, and thought that her company was a great resource to my customers. I found her so interesting that I even started following her on Twitter.

It doesn’t matter how great your product is, it won’t sell if you don’t have the right packaging. We found that out the hard way when we had a retail line and spa. The focus of JoAnn’s entire business is on using the right packaging for your product. I needed to share this great treasure of a company that I found with you so I did a quick interview with her.

Kayla: What does your company do?

JoAnn: I teach how to package products to sell. Whether it's packaging innovation, unique design or materials or just in there words themselves the package is the ultimate consumer connector. Get it wrong and your product might never sell.

Kayla: What can your company do for my customers?

JoAnn: Make sure they are on top of packaging trends and innovations and crafting the right message for their target consumers. Help them develop the right packaging for their target consumer. At my website, I also offer free packaging articles and solutions to help your customers package their products in the best ways possible.

Kayla: How did you get into your industry?

JoAnn: I started in packaging sales 30+years ago. Packaging is unique because every product is different. It's always changing to adapt to consumers wants and needs.

Kayla: What are you passionate about?

JoAnn: Packaging as a societal influence and as a career. I'm also a gourmet cook and gardener.

Kayla: What is your experience with Essential Wholesale?

JoAnn: Well, serving on the panel together and meeting you has been great. I have heard many positive things about you. And I have to say that I loved the lemongrass aromatherapy soap that was in the goodie bags at the conference.

Kayla: Is there anything more you would like to share with my readers?

JoAnn: I really love working with entrepreneurs and small businesses. My first experience with the soapmakers conference was fantastic. I have lots of resources and if I can't help a client I know someone who can.

just wanted to compliment JoAnn on her business. Working for Essential Wholesale for the last 6 plus years I have to say that one of my favorite parts of the business is looking at peoples packaging design and it's so true packaging is everything, eye appeal is buy appeal. if someone asked me what is the most important part of growing their retail line is I would definately tell them that marketing and packaging design would be very key to their success.
