Jump On In!
The Water's Fine
s a little girl, I was a weak swimmer. My father worked tirelessly with me in the pool. He was determined to build my confidence in the water and increase my endurance as a swimmer. Because of my fear, I clung to the side of the pool and from there I pleaded with my father to stay exactly where he was while I swam to him under water.
Most of the time, he complied and I successfully reached my goal to the safety of his arms. But he never allowed me to stay inside my comfort zone for very long.
Stretching Beyond The Comfort Zone
Once I had accomplished one goal, he would step back farther away from me. I begged him to step in closer, inside my comfort zone. He patiently and lovingly told me "no" and encouraged me to swim out to him. I often swam towards him and fell short of my goal. When I came up for air and found him just outside my reach I would panic. He rescued me a few times, but after a while, he would stand his ground just outside my reach. I struggled, gasped for air and splashed my way over to him. This scenario was repeated over and over again until finally I could swim straight to his arms, minus the drama. After a few successes he stepped back again and the entire cycle repeated itself. It seems that this went on for years; maybe it was only a summer, but in my mind the memory is vivid and drawn out. At the YMCA, under the unrelenting Texas sun, I learned my first lessons of perseverance.
Don't Get Left Behind
I firmly believe that we all must have goals that we are constantly reaching for that exists just outside our comfort zone. Goals are thing that we believe are reachable, but with great effort. Without goals, the tides of life push us backwards. If we are not moving forward it may seem that we are not moving at all, but in fact we are moving backwards. The economy is marching forward and changing, and our goals must be refocused and readjusted to account for the changing times. If we stand still, we will be left behind.
What is your goal? What is your vision? Write it down and look at it every day. Make a mission statement for your life and your business based on your values. At Essential Wholesale, we believe that our customers and employees create unique community of natural product enthusiasts. It is our goal to be there for you to teach, train, encourage and support your vision. We would like to create a culture that is remarkable - and you are part of it. Whether you want to use clean and natural products for personal use, for your hobby, a home based business, a small giant or big business we are here to help. Remember that a goal that you have to reach down to pick up is not the kind of goal that dreams are made of. Worthwhile dreams live high above you in the blue sky and require that you stand on your tippy toes and jump higher than you thought possible.
